Check out what your local bartenders in Auckland and Wellington are doing for World Bartender Day!
Wildlife Fundraiser Party
Hawthorn Lounge are throwing a party, featuring the finalist’s drinks, with a DJ, and a tattoo artist that will tattoo native birds on people with proceeds going to native wildlife charities. This party will take place on the 23rd of February. $1 per drink sold during the party will go to charity.
World Bartender Day at No.7 Balmac
From the 10th of February until the 27th, the “Buds of Taste” cocktail will be printed and available from our restaurant Cocktail list at No7 Balmac Restaurant in Dunedin.
For every serve of ‘Irrelevant Seasons’ sold, ABV Wellington will make a donation of $1 to send to the World Wide Fund (WWF). The WWF is a part of the world's largest organization dedicated to protecting nature and looking after the planet. The majority of donations are put towards conservation in NZ (such as preserving the last 57-75 Maui dolphins), Antarctica and the Southern Ocean.
Poquito Cafe and Bar
Come along to Poquito Bar and Cafe and listen to Max take you through his favourite part of the whisky producing world; Islay. Max you will take you through 6 of his favourite drams that have left the island and made their way to NZ. 6 Drams, some snacks, a little something extra and some awesome banter, this event is not to be missed.
Wildlife Fundraiser Party
Long White Cloud will be featured in a special bookmark menu at Hawthorn Lounge alongside 2 other cocktails, each made by other finalists in the competition, Mackenzie Edwards and Federico Casadei who also work at Hawthorn Lounge. The three Hawthorn Lounge finalists will be throwing a large party at their venue to promote all three of their drinks. The party itself will be on Sunday the 23rd of February and be mostly aimed at mostly hospitality staff. Featuring all three of their drinks all night, they will donate $1 to charity for each one sold on the evening. Further to this, all three of the drinks in their own way celebrate nature, foraging or New Zealand native ingredients so to tie this into the party, the chosen charities will be ones that directly aid the rescue, rehabilitation and perpetuation of native plant and animal species. Furthermore, on the night there will be a tattoo artist in the venue to do tattoos of native birds with all proceeds going towards the same two charities. In addition to all of that, there will be a DJ playing and the venue will be open late.
Bartender's High Tea
On 24th February, Cork Bar will be hosting a Bartenders High Tea Event. It is a pre-open party for those that are working and a brunch for the others day off, offering a selection of sandwiches and cakes, coffee and cocktails.
Pay It Forward
My cocktail is One Point Twenty One Gigawatts (1.21GW) and is a 'toast to the future' by utilising ingredients that are sustainable and forward thinking. Not only should the future be about being kind to the planet, but being kind to one another. The second week of Feb (starting on the 10th) is International Random Acts of Kindness Week. So, our toast to the future promotion is about paying kindness forward. The Bramble will promote a two week event starting on the 10th of 'paying it forward'. We will choose five customers and give them the first 1.21GW on the house via our Facebook promotion. Customers will also be encouraged to purchase drinks forward for other people at the bar at any time over the two weeks. The Bramble will donate $1 from every 'paid forward' beverage over the two week period to the Australian Bush fires.
