OzHarvest Donations

The Scottish Prince

The menu is made out of seed paper in order to match with the sustainable theme I've chosen for my drink.

Customers will be able to take the menu home in order to plant it. To support sustainability in the country I decided to donated $1 per cocktail sold to OZharvest fighting against food waste.

For two weeks leading up to World Bartender Day, the crew at The Cambus Wallace will be going on a maiden voyage to conquer the seas of the Nobbys and Miami. A riddle a day will help steer all on board in the right direction as well acquiring some loot.

Patrons will be supplied with a new hand-written riddle on either left over skins or scraps attached to the First Mate ’46 Cocktail. It will further be given to any customers that enquire with the pamphlet hidden around the venue and in the menu. -‘Happy sailing’

I have created two commericals!

World Bartender Day at Hello Gorgeous

Hello Gorgeous

For the promotional aspect of The Perfect Blend 2019, I will be offering my cocktail over the bar at Hello Gorgeous on the dates of 10th Feb - 24th Feb. My activation will include not only the whisky my cocktail is made on, Hibiki Harmony, but a range of the Beam Suntory profile. This is an attempt to not only offer the cocktail to a larger market by creating a range of pricing points but also educate the general public on the Beam Suntory profile. I'll create a tasteful sign to sit on the bar, with information about my cocktail and The Perfect Blend competition.

Along with this, I will be promoting the cocktail on my bartending Instagram, liquidwizard__ . Information on where the cocktail is available and the products in it will also be promoted here.

I have also sent a brief to several bars in Brisbane in attempt to widen the distribution of the experience of this promotion and educate even further markets. My plan is to sell my cocktail over their bar for a limited number of days in this two week period, to be exactly confirmed soon and promoted on the Instagram page.

Build Your Own Highball Night

The Gresham Bar

I will be hosting a Build-your-own-highball night in The Drawing Room at The Gresham on Wednesday the 13th Feb. During the session I will be talking about the history of soda through the 1700s until now. This will cover all things medicinal, impractical, highball and local. In the session, all guests will see 2 whiskies - Maker's 46 and Hibiki Harmony, and 3 homemade sodas, with which they may add to their highballs according to their preferences, and of course a taste of my Pips & All Blend finals cocktail.

Throughout the fortnight of promotion, anyone who takes a photo of their highball made anywhere in Australia and tags @badbadleroyoscar and hashtags #worldbartenderday #beamsuntory will go in the draw to win 1 of 3 packs of reusable straws. We at the Gresham are almost out of our last case of plastic straws before we give up on the plastic tube for good!

Finally, I will be doing a pop-up shift at Brooklyn Standard, an American Dive bar, in order to promote highballs and whiskey in general. This will be on Thursday 21st of Feb.

Cocktails for a Cause

Saville Row

Savile Row will be promoting my Perfect Blend cocktail through WBD. I have agreed with the venue that the drink will be sold at a discount price of $18 with logo, and drink available for purchase with an obvious “menu insert.” Along with this we will advertise this as an event on social media where $1 from every one of my cocktails sold will be given to OzHarvest charity. Seeing as my cocktail revolves around minimum waste and sustainability I found it fitting to use this as a platform for people to continue doing something good for those in need by donating to a company thats mission is to save and redistribute useable food people have wasted.

Whiskey Masterclass

The Boom Boom Room

For World Bartender Day I will be hosting a consumer based Whisk(e)y Master class at The Boom Boom Room Vaults. In addition to the master class I'll also be showcasing my cocktail Yasi’s Mark. This event will have a food pairing element as well, showcasing great Australian produce. All proceeds from the event will go to a charity aimed at helping and supporting Queensland farmers.

My inspiration for this cocktail was to create a drink that evoked a sense of ownership and understanding of where our treasured fresh produce comes from. This event will hopefully showcase the importance of supporting our local farmers, and to outline the many struggles these people go through on a daily basis for us to have the delicious fruit and vegetables on our tables.

Yasi’s Mark social media is now live and active and the event will be promoted through all channels of media within the Ghanem Group. My cocktail will appear on a menu insert at all Ghanem group Venues across Brisbane, with hopes to try and see it on some interstate bar menus too.

ROKU Gin Appreciation Night (and more...)

Electric Avenue

Starting on the 8th Feb, my workplace and I will be running weekly social media posts in the lead up to World Bartender Day.

My cocktail, Six Minutes to Midnight, will be available from the 10th Feb until our workplaces seasonal menu change. On the menu there will be a page dedicated to my cocktail.

Until the end of the competition, ROKU Gin has been added to our Gin selection. We have created a signature iced tea and tonic/garnish serve that pays homage to my cocktail, World Bartender Day and The Blend.

To keep this excitement going, we are proposing a Suntory-ROKU Gin appreciation night. Centered around ROKU Gin, we will discuss Gin, Japanese craft, Japanese gin and whiskey history, Japanese tea ceremonies and other drinking traditions. Relative canapés will be served and guests will have an opportunity to create their own tea to pair with ROKU and participate in a small gin/tea ceremony. Throughout the night samples of ROKU will be sampled in different form (neat, with tea, cocktail, served warm etc etc) to highlight the diversity of the drink and showcase how intricate the flavours are.
