THE STORY BEHIND THE COCKTAIL NAME

My entry into The Perfect Blend is a toast to the woman who raised me- my wonderful mum Heather. She has been a tremendous influence on me since I was young and is a huge reason I am who I am today. Mum always keeps me in check and holds me to high standards but under her tough, badass exterior she is a massive softy and a colossal support base. Jim Beam Rye was selected to embody this strong, badass side of her, whereas elements of hibiscus in this drink reflect her sweeter side. Also, her nightly tea addiction. However, grapefruit being one of her favourite fruits as well as gin pairings was a necessary highlight to pay tribute to mum.

The accompanying elements of the cocktail are structured around Jim Beam Rye to compliment everything that makes the spirit delicious. Acid modified grapefruit juice and homemade grapefruit bitters balance the sweeter, floral notes of the hibiscus tea syrup and Mace spray brings the whole package together in one delicious, easy drinking cocktail perfect for any time of the year.

Hollee + Hamish will be working together to host a night of cocktails! Focusing on gin and bourbon the pair will serve up their signature The Perfect Blend cocktail; “Miss McGolly” by Hollee and “Hibiscus for Heather” by Hamish; as well as Hamish’s perfect serve Jim Beam Rye + Ginger and Hollee’s favourite Maker’s Mark Whiskey Highball. The pair will chat through the inspiration behind their Perfect Blend cocktails and have a chat about the ins and outs of Maker’s Mark and Jim Beam Rye. Chef Seb will also be serving up some charcuterie to compliment the flavours of our host’s cocktails.
